Nestled in the gently rolling hills and woodlands of the southwest Missouri Ozarks, our 90 acre pork farm is conveniently located in the town of Seymour, MO, just 32 miles east of Springfield, MO.
Circle B Ranch provides a safe, all-natural home to breed, farrow and raise 100% Heritage Pork which includes Berkshire/Kurabota and Red Wattle. Our hog farm is run naturally, sustainably and humanely.
Established in 2010, Circle B Ranch is proudly owned and operated by John and Marina Backes, long time believers of the health benefits wholesome and all-natural foods bring to our families. We firmly believe that an animal’s welfare is very important to the taste and the appearance of the meat which is why we make such a significant effort in the natural and humane raising of our hogs.
Our naturally grown pork is rich in Omega 3 fat, vitamin D and is free from growth hormones, steroids and antibiotics. Berkshire/Kurabota pork is known for its rare characteristic marbling which consistently produces a meat with superb tenderness, moisture and flavor. What are Berkshire/Kurabota and Red Wattle?
The names may sound unfamiliar to many. The label on your pre-packed pork product from the local grocery store isn’t going to tell you what type of hog your pork came from or where and how it was raised. To others however, these names make mouths water!
To put it simply, the names are breeds of hogs which all are considered Heritage or Heirloom Pork (pork that comes from rarer breeds of pigs that have been raised in humane and environmentally friendly conditions). Red Wattle are domesticated American breeds and Berkshire is originally from Britain.
